Pascal
Möhlmann
The Dutch painter Pascal Möhlmann (b. Hilversum, 1969) calls his style New Beauty with Punk Rock Attitude because he turns away from cynicism and irony. “I learned a language from the old masters and brought it into the present. I paint what is now”, says Möhlmann. Humor forms a definite part of Pascal's purposeful art. The interplay of such classical mainstays as artistic nudity with themes of overt sexualization, nonsensical combinations, and extreme emotions makes for some truly fascinating images. Pascal's artwork works worldly modernity onto canvas through classical techniques. Details flourish in vivid chroma, converting creative messages to images worth thousands of words.
