Mai Blanco en La Nave Salinas

27.06.2024 - 31.10.2024

"Jardín Adentro" by Mai Blanco"

The La Nave Salinas Foundation presents "Jardín Adentro," an exhibition by the Spanish artist Mai Blanco, this summer. Founded by Lio Malca almost a decade ago, the space promotes various artistic languages in a former salt warehouse in Las Salinas, Ibiza.

Born in Asturias, Blanco has always been passionate about art. Her self-portraits explore the search for meaning through nature, celebrating life with simplicity and authenticity.

Blanco portrays nude figures in nature, seeking universality and timelessness. She draws inspiration from artists like Bonet, Botticelli, Rubens, Bonnard, Dubuffet, Baselitz, Neel, Picasso, and Brown. Her fluid lines and soft yet vibrant color palette evoke the sensuality and strength of femininity.

With an exhibition space of over 450 square meters, the foundation dedicates itself each year to presenting exciting curatorial projects and monumental contemporary art installations. The exhibitions are combined with extensive educational initiatives, including guided tours and playful-educational workshops for local schools. These activities aim to bring contemporary art closer to people of all ages. Perhaps the foundation's most important mission is that admission to La Nave Salinas and all its programs is free and fully accessible. La Nave Salinas has hosted solo exhibitions by artists such as Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, Marco Brambilla, Bill Viola, KAWS, Rafa Macarrón, Eva Beresin, and Jonny Niesche.
