The universe of Joan Cortés (Mallorca, 1964) is the understanding of the place. He has the power to make space his own, any space, with a surprising naturalness. Structures always laborious, with a high load of complexity, light volumes, solemn, polished until they get lost in the depth of the white. Sinuous forms take the space with an overwhelming dignity.
The sculptor has said, and says a lot. Cortes is a name of his own among the indispensable of art.
