Leeanne Williams
Brittney Leeanne Williams paintings explore the potential of the female body, manifesting the hidden burdens, strength, and mallea- bility of bodies and experiences. She first showed at The Hole in 2020 in Second Smile, her solo show The Body Knows Its Door in 2021 followed along with several other group shows. Other recent solo shows include Huddle, Alexander Berggruen (NYC), I’m There Where the Angel Is Missing, Newchild (Antwerp) and Name This Mountain Interruption, Carl Kostyál,(Stora Sundby, SE). Her work is includ- ed in various public collections, including the Columbus Museum (Columbus GA), the Domus Collection (NYC/Beijing), HE Museum (China), The Museum of Fine Arts (Houston), and Museu Inimá de Paula, (Belo Horizonte, BR). She is a Joan Mitchell Foundation grant recipient. Williams’ artist residencies include The Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans (upcoming), Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, the Fores Project (UK), Arts + Public Life, and McColl Center.
