Ákos

Ezer

Born 1989, lives and works in Budapest, Hungary. He graduated from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2010. Various male, young people, marked by contemporary and pop-cultural references, populate the canvas works of the Hungarian artist Ákos Ezers and blur with their elongated and inter- woven limbs into abstract paintings. The surreal depictions of the painted bodies often take up the entire picture surface and in their linearity form a geometric frame that seems to constrain the persons depicted. With their stooped and twisted postures and the empty gazes, they appear like sad puppets of an invisible authority, which contrasts with the colorful and strong color palette of the paintings. Ákos Ezer invites the viewers to work out his very personal view of current social structures in his home country Hungary. The works tell in a gentle, humorous, but by no means banalizing way about the life of the Hungarian youth and their personal efforts and lack of perspectives in everyday life caused by political authorities and conflicts.
