Scout Zabinski is a painter who works in “psychological self-portraiture.” Exploring her own history with trauma, her paintings navigate themes of body image, the male gaze, and everyday life while alluding to weighted secrets of abuse and addiction. Her nude ‘Scouts’ invert the gaze into a two-way parlay, a means of self-reclamation and preservation, which dare the viewers to engage as a voyeur and friend. Vulnerable and tender, she disrobes her mind and body as a form of therapy and meditation. “My studio is like a little laboratory where I dissect myself and come out feeling a little more whole” says Zabinski. Her first solo exhibition ‘Now You See Me’ debuted at Seasons LA in April 2022.
