Kate Meissner, is an artist based in Los Angeles. Through carefully constructed oil paintings, she depicts figures refracted through luridly seductive and grotesque fantasies. Her work conflates flesh with paint, dissecting and ultimately subverting both normative bodies and straightforward realism. Color and surface are heightened, producing a response that hovers between attraction and anxiety. She received an MFA in painting from Yale University (2021) and a BFA from California Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo (2017). Selected group exhibitions include Lyles and King in New York, Office Baroque, and Green Hall Gallery in New Haven, CT.
