Miquel Barceló at Museo MACE

21.06 - 16.11.2025

The MACE presents Miquel Barceló: El present permanent, an exhibition curated by Enrique Juncosa that brings together thirteen recent paintings (2024-2025) and nine ceramics made between 2018 and 2024. The opening will be on June 21 at 8 pm.

This is the third time Barceló exhibits at the museum, after his shows in 2003 and 2012. On this occasion, the Mallorcan artist explores the link between art and origin, with works that refer to the cave art of caves such as Lascaux, Altamira or Chauvet. Textures, reliefs and a sober palette of whites, blacks and ochers evoke the ancestral and the sacred, in scenes where totemic animals and rough surfaces awaken deep memories.

The ceramics - with fish, flowers and marine forms - celebrate life from an intimate connection with nature. Barceló describes them as “a way of painting,” in which gesture, clay and color dialogue with the essential. An exhibition that connects us with art in its most primitive and powerful form.
